these good things: I am not my hair

Every once in a while I think all of us, even the most secure amongst us, struggle to be confident in who we are...

This can be about a lot of different stuff... your personality, your weight, your skin, your education, your looks, your hair.. and there's absolutley no shame in being insecure. Everybody is in doubt sometimes, but it's about fighting the fear and living your live knowing you are the very best version of yourself.

As I myself was always secure about my personality I struggled to love my appearence..meaning my hair and it took me a lot of guts to face my insecurity and just be who I am. As you can read in previous posts of mine I straightened my hair for a very long time and even when I stopped the straightening I wasn't quite ready to accept the texture of my hair. I tried to get bigger curls, tried to make my hair something it wasn't. Although I wouldn't say, that I'm at the end of my journey I definitely got a lot more confident since I wear my natural hair. It's just who I am and since I accepted that, I am able to really love and appreciate it.

Since I learned so much of them I wanted to show you some of these gorgeous hairbloggers, who you can follow on instagram. I know it's kind of odd to say 'cos I don't know them, but I mean it when I say, that I owe them so much. These women share their journeys, they reveal their secrets to beautiful and healthy hair, they try to make a difference, they inspire !!!

Always keep in mind the words of the talented writer Warsan Shire. I totally agree with her. ALL OF YOU ARE TERRIFYING AND STRANGE AND BEAUTIFUL AND NO MATTER WHO LOVES YOU OR DOESN'T LOVE YOU.. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT YOU LOVE YOURSELF!
